What is Virtualization?

Virtualization is the ability to run multiple servers or systems on a single physical machine. This utilizes the single physical machine much more efficiently compared to a traditional “bare metal” server which typically only uses 20-40% of its potential normally.

How Does Virtualization Work?

Virtualization is utilized by adding a new operating system called a hypervisor. This hypervisor controls the allocation all resources such as disk space, CPU, RAM and network interfaces to the virtual machines. Each of these virtual machines acts as its own entity and is completely separate from the other virtual machines, just like a standard server would be. SoTech utilizes either VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V solutions to meet the needs of its clients.

Virtualizing Your Business

SoTech helps businesses migrate from normal servers to virtualized servers. Virtualization allows you to get the most out of the hardware you have, allowing your business to expand without needing to upgrade your hardware. Virtualization also offers improved data recovery options, when virtual machines are backed up, they can easily be restored on a new system with completely different hardware without data loss.
